Winpackage Space 201 [73 Kb] Same as above except the self-extracting file is windows-based (so easier to use if you come from a windows background
space is a small shareware suite of DOS programs (the largest of which is 16 kilobytes) that simply tell you how much space you have left on the disk - something like the windows 'gas gaauge' telling you much of your download has come down or setup process is completed.
There are quite a few options - one is to produce a log file or set a 'high water mark' for usage. One option you should look at is the one that waits around till you press a key - or else in windows you'll typically only see a flash as the DOS windows opens; runs the programs and closes again (note that on my 'windows' things stay open nicely anyway). There are lots of text files in the package that document what you can do.
Note also that also since the last update was in August 1995 there is one limitation - it gets a little confused if the disk is over 2 gigabytes - that is it only counts up that far, It will still tell you how much is free - up to 2 gigs that is.
Timelog [7 Kb] a small DOS utility that stamps an event to a logfile, you can specify the name of the logfile or have a custom message.
To see its options run a DOS box and type 'timelog /?'. Note that the command-line help says that the default logfile is 'time.log' when it is actually 'timelog.log' in the current directory. Circa 1992

Microtax Viewer [36 Kb] old [1995] DOS-based. Microtax is a tax lodgement program and this views its datafile.
The datafile has been recreated so has no priveleged info - I just dashed it off so in fact the datafile is not very good at all, affecting some of the utilies included in this package even. MAKE SURE you read the included readme file.
